This is a random post about a short story that happened about 2-3 years ago. I just thought it’d be fun to write down.

I began attending youth group at the First Church of God during the fall of 2005.
I believe at this point I had been going for at least several months, maybe longer. I can’t remember when it was exactly. One Wednesday night I was getting ready to go to youth group and I decided to pray by myself beforehand. I went into my room, shut the door, and prayed about the night ahead of me. That was the first time I had ever done that specifically and strangely enough I remember that short moment with God quite clearly.

That night at youth group, just like every week, someone read a verse from the Bible. Just a random verse that someone would choose I suppose.

Guess what the Scripture was that night?

“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” Matthew 6:6 (NIV)

I knew that was not a coincidence. I still love thinking about this simple, yet powerful “God story.”
