Confession: A Christmas Carol

Confession: I don’t know the classic story “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens.  I watched the animated movie the other night, with Jim Carrey, and I have to admit I’ve never read the classic.  As far as I can remember, that’s the first “Christmas Carol” movie I’ve seen.  I’m not alone though, my Mom nor Ryan had ever read/seen it either.  I feel a little out of the traditional Christmas loop.  That’s certainly not the first time though…ha. (ahem, Idon’tthinkI’veeverwatchedAChristmasStoryeither)

So tell me, is this story a part of your Christmastime traditions?  Have you seen the Jim Carrey version?

I haven’t seen this version, but I did watch THE MUPPETS CHRISTMAS CAROL just today! I watch it a few times every year and it is amazing. I never read the Dickens’ version, and that is MY confessions! I did read a tribute version that had Mr. Darcy of Pemberly as the main character this year, and it was pretty much exactly the same as all of the versions I’d seen in film. I think it is a dark concept, just like the idea of never being born in ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE. It is also very religious in the idea that there are consequences for your behavior on Earth, and I don’t think that is something most modern Christmas tales include!
