Valentine Yarn Wreath (Plus a Giveaway!)

This giveaway is now closed.  Congrats to Melissa!  But feel free to continue reading about making a yarn wreath!

Yesterday, I took my cousin Darah and her BF Micah to the local craft shop.  It’s a very random craft shop in a very small town owned by an older couple – and honestly, I have no idea how they stay in business around here.  BUT they have a huge variety and great prices.  My cousin absolutely LOVED it and she’s been a lot of art/craft shops.  I found exactly what I needed to make some more great projects.  I am on a crafting roll!!!

Have you ever made a yarn wreath? I’ve seen some among the crafty bloggers that caught my eye.  Mrs. Priss has a great tutorial for the wreath and a few different types of felt flowers.  I also found one at the blog Take Heart with a very similar tutorial.

Well, I decided to give it a shot.  I’m so glad I did because it is SO much fun!!

Supplies needed:
Straw or foam wreath form
Yarn of your choice
Scissors
Felt (or something else to decorate it) – and possibly glue
Pins (to pin on the decorations)
Ribbon (to hang it!)

I chose a red/pink multicolored yarn to make it a Valentine Yarn Wreath.  To decorate it, I made the easiest and cutest purple and white felt flowers (see tutorial in links).  Then I pinned them with corsage pins so they have a pearl on the end that tops it off!  I was going to make felt leaves, but didn’t like the green color so I used small leaves from silk flowers.  I LOVE how it turned out!

NOW… if you don’t want to make one of your own for whatever reason, I am going to make another one and GIVE IT AWAY to one of you!  All you have to do is comment and tell me what color yarn and flowers you would want!!! And if you win, I will make you a beautiful yarn wreath that you can keep or gift to someone else!

I’d choose colors like the Mrs Priss uses in her tutorial.

  3. Cute! These are one my “to do” list. I would love one in neutral colors, like cream with flowers that would really pop!

  4. So cute! I like the color of the wreath, and I think I would have the flowers match those colors too. I dunno though, my entire apartment is black and white! I’m not picky :) Such a neat idea.
